Kevin D

Kevin started playing guitar in 1996. He was going to Kalamazoo Christian High School in Kalamazoo, MI and was Alto Saxophone from 5th grade thru 9th grade. He tried out other instruments like Tenor, and Baritone Saxophone, and Bass Clarinet. Kevin traded in his Alto Saxophone for his first Fender Stratocaster electric guitar. He took a few lessons at a local store called Don Dillon's Music in Kalamazoo, MI. With a nudge in the right directions from his teacher he moved on to teach himself where he is at on guitar today. In Junior year of High School he started to play Bass Guitar in his church band so the Piano player wouldn't have to do his right hand on a Piano for melody and left hand on a Bass Synthesizer, this was his foot in the door to Music Education and performance! Kevin also took AP Music theory courses at a local college while in High School playing with the church band. Thanks to the Drummer, John, he was referred to the Conservatory of Recording Arts & Sciences in Tempe, AZ to do an 900-credit hour full immersion study 7-days a week for 8 months, and completed the 280-hour internship in a related field of Audio Engineering. Over the years Kevin has developed his skillset to try and achieve "what he can't do" meaning when he liked a song that included fingerpicking, he'd learn to finger pick, or if it had percussive syncopation he'd learn that and so on. After graduating the Conservatory of Recording Arts & Sciences with his Audio Engineering Credentials he has been involved in Audio Visual or telecommunications work for almost 20-years. Kevin practices guitar himself everyday to learn and develop new skills and would want to see progress from his students that show their efforts and practice similarly. He knows that repetition and muscle stretching and muscle memory and building fingertip Calais' are half the battle when first learning guitar.
