What to expect in my Guitar Lessons

Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced

We first begin with an assessment so I can see what you can do and the areas I can help you. I am very transparent that if you're beyond my scope of teaching. After seeing you play a little bit I'll take you through some music theory and end with playing through two pieces: one of your choosing and one I assign to you.

What to expect in my Vocal Lessons

Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced

We need to start by setting some goals you have in mind. These don't have to be as specific as "I want to hit a C5 by Christmas" but could be "I would like to sing this song better in 6 months than I do now". This way we have a general game plan that we are working on. After we have some time to chat I'll begin taking you through some warm ups to get to know your voice better. Getting to know your voice is a process that takes several weeks so the first lesson is to hear where you're at that day. At the end of the first lesson you'll be assigned two songs to begin working on: One of your choosing and one that I choose to help challenge you.

Review for TJ

I have known TJ well for a number of years, and in that time, he has demonstrated to me a level of responsibility and intelligence that I feel is rare, particularly in one so young. He had a very difficult youth, yet managed to get a full scholarship, finish college and earn an MA. He's kind and caring, yet straightforward when he needs to be. As far as his teaching skills, I have experienced them firsthand when he trained my dog and me (he's a certified dog trainer) and also when I needed to learn choreography and was having trouble getting the sequences. In both cases, he exhibited patience and excellence communication skills, both of which are critical in being a good teacher. Joan Saunders wrote on Fri, 24 Mar 2017
