I grew up in Cincinnati, OH and began my musical training on piano at age 8. I mostly learned pieces by ear and to this day, that is my preferred method. I played trumpet in grade school and high school band, and finally gravitated towards bass at 17. When I started college, I was a Biomedical Engineering major, but I quickly discovered that wasn't for me, so I applied and was accepted into CCM. I now make my living as a freelance bassist in the Cincinnati area.

BM in Jazz Studies from University of Cincinnati's College Conservatory of Music.
Private Education:
1 year of study with Rick Vizachero, bassist in the Cincinnati Symphony.
Performing Experience:
I have been performing on my main instrument, bass, for 8 years. In that time, I've gotten to the chance to perform and record with most of the top jazz talents in the area as well as a couple nationally (and internationally) reknowned acts both in the jazz and pop realms. Notable musicians I've worked with include Phil DeGreg (veteran of the Woody Herman orchestra and instructor at the Jamie Aebersold camps), Jon Von Ohlen (legendary big band drummer with the Stan Kenton Orchestra), Ric Hordinski (member of Over the Rhine and owner and producer at the Monastery Studio), and Steve Wilson (NEA Jazz Master).
Experience Teaching:
I've taught students as young as 10 and as old as 60, and I've been teaching since I got to college. I try to balance working on rudiments and technique with students in addition to learning songs that they want to know.

My name is Aaron Jacobs, and I taught Kevin jazz bass for four years at the College Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. Kevin is an incredibly talented individual who took his studies very seriously. I would consider easily one of the top students that I ever had the pleasure of teaching. He is very responsible, considerate, and is a great instructor himself. To this day, he is one of my first calls in covering gigs that I cannot do.
