Jamie is a Professor of Songwriting at St. Petersburg College holding an Master of Arts in Music, and a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a Broad Endorsement K-12 in Band and Chorus. Jamie is a songwriting researcher and practicing songwriter. Her work mostly focuses on song trend analysis, popular music pedagogies, effective songwriting through fundamental songwriting approaches, and music literacy appropriate for songwriting. She has composed music for children, jingles and plays, as well as written hundreds of songs. She is proficient in classical piano and voice, and possesses solid skills in percussion. She is comfortable teaching all ages and levels as well as performance, composition, and reading and listening skills. She possess a solid understanding of these concepts and skills in the context of various musical styles, periods and genres.
