Derek P

Derek is a bassist with over 35 years of performance.   Born in Philadelphia, Pa, he Roll Hall of Fame & Museum for 2 years from 1996-1998.   He has been a member of holds degrees from Cheyney University & the University of Akron.  He worked at the Rock &such regional artists as the Waynes, Pleasure Void, the Tellers, Plasma, Noah Budin, Alexis Antes, Pale Hollow, & Blackgrass Baptism and has been endorsed by Rotosound Strings Inc. & Washburn Guitars.  He was a cast member of the most staged play in Cleveland history, Tony’N Tina’s Wedding.   He is a member of the music faculty of Tri-C since 2001 and has been the transportation coordinator for the Tri-C Jazzfest since 2006.       He’s worked with producers Mitch Easter (R.E.M.), T-Bone Burnett (Oh Brother Where Art Thou, Elvis Costello, & Sam Phillips), Al Sutton (Kidd Rock), & Ryan Pickett (My Morning Jacket & Pearl Jam).  He has opened for such artists as Peter Yarrow (Peter, Paul, & Mary), Fleetwood Mac, James Taylor, KD Lang, Sam Phillips, Tori Amos, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Michael Stanley, Red Wanting Blue, Peter Frampton, Carole King, & Melissa Ferrick.
