Gary Karr, calls Jerome an exemplar of "the next generation in solo double bass playing." A former student of world renowned solo double bassist Gary Karr, Eugene Levinson, Larry Wolfe among others. Jerome's technique has been labeled as a naturalist for his approach to concert pieces such as Bottesini's Grand Duo Concertante with world renowned violinist Nina Beilina and the Dvorak Cello Concerto with the Tampa Bay Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Dr. Heller and The Sun City Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Jeff Jordan. Since his debut in 1993 at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall, Jerome has given numerous solo recitals in halls that include New York's Cathedral of St. John the Divine and the 92nd Street YMHA, as well as the Gardiner Museum of Boston. He has appeared as featured soloist with orchestras such as the Sarasota Orchestra (formerly known as the Florida West Coast Symphony), The Sarasota Pops Orchestra, The Sun City Symphony Orchestra. Stickley Music announced a major landmark, 60-minute, DVD performed by Jerome, double bass, and Paul Ramsier, piano. Classical Music in Review By Alex Ross Published: September 25, 1993 'Bach and Beyond' Bachanalia Festival Orchestra Alice Tully Hall On Monday night, the 21 strings of the Bachanalia Festival Orchestra played under the heading "Bach and Beyond." It was a somewhat effortful designation for a program that lumped together Bach's "Brandenburg" Concerto No. 3, Rossini's String Sonata No. 3, Bottesini's Grand Duo Concertante for violin and double bass, Shostakovich's String Quartet No. 8 (string ensemble version) and Michael Moriarty's "Theme and Variations on 'I Wonder as I Wander' " for solo violin. Mr. Moriarty, better known as a television actor (he plays a prosecutor on "Law and Order") than as a classical composer, introduced his own work and the Shostakovich. His variations were stylistically wide-ranging and fluidly expressive; not at all an amateur effort. Nina Beilina, the artistic director and concertmaster, played them with a rich, roughly accurate tone. The Bach and Rossini went off smoothly (Gerald Ranck was the harpsichordist), and Bottesini's wonderfully preposterous showpiece made for a rousing finish. Jerome, the superb double bass soloist, climbed fearlessly into his extreme treble register, even breaking into a smile as his fingers danced dangerously close to the bow.
