To’Nia was born January 15, 1983 to Tyrone and Maxine Gray in Cincinnati, Ohio. In 1997 she auditioned for the School for the Creative and Performing Arts, where she was accepted; majoring in Vocal Performance, Theater, and minored in Creative Writing. During her five years at Performing Arts she performed in many productions such as; the Broadway production of Joseph & the Amazing Technique color Dream Coat, Bye Bye Birdie, The Music Man; and several concerts with the late Conductor Eric Kunzel and the Cincinnati Orchestra.   To’Nia went on to attend Kentucky State University where she majored in Vocal Performance and minored in Theatre. She later became the soprano section leader of the Kentucky State Concert Choir under the direction of D Carl H. Smith. She also worked her way up to lead percussionist, and became a well-known performer throughout the university and the city of Frankfort. While in attendance, To’Nia earned the Singer Buchanan Award for Theatrical Excellence and the D James and Rosanne Scholarship award. In addition, To’Nia performed in professional shows such as Ain’t Mis’behavion and Ragtime (off Broadway). After her transfer to Wilberforce University, To’Nia performed with many artist including; world renowned opera soprano soloist Ms. Cathleen Battle and Gospel artist Donnie McClurkin. To’Nia graduated with her B.A. in Vocal Performance.
