Started Playing Sax at age 10 in grade school band. While in college at USC started playing in Rock and R&B Bands. Played sax and flute for Patti LaBelle, BJ Thomas, Sam and Dave, Clarence Carter, Billy Joe Royal, Eddie Floyd, and The Catalinas where I recorded "Summertimes Calling Me". Currently practice 3 hours a day and perform part time with my group here in Charlotte, NC. I record also, as I have included a song that I wrote and played all horns on in the section for Youtube Video.
Jimmy O has over 60 years of music experience in the Charlotte area.
Jimmy O is proficient in and teaches Orchestral Lessons .Formal Education:
Was taught and studied saxophone in school from my old band director Walter B. Graham in Winnsboro, SC.
Private Education:
During my 20's studied sax with Willie Gillon who played first chair with the Glenn Miller Orchestra. I studied for many years with my mentor Irv Cox. Irv played sax all over with Don Ho. He also played for many years with the legendary Louie Jordan who recorded and made famous "Caldonia".
Performing Experience:
Have performed and played on stage up and down the Eastern Seaboard with such Grammy winners as Patti Labelle, BJ Thomas, Sam and Dave, and Clarence Carter. Many years of performing with The Catalinas of "Summertimes Calling Me" fame.
Experience Teaching:
Have taught several adults and children to play the sax and flute over the years. I am semi retired now and would like to do more of that.

I have known Jimmy O for approximately 8 years and ;worked with him for 4 years in several bands. In that time he has demonstrated his ability to instruct on material to be used in our endeavors. He has always exhibited patience and knowledge. He is a polished musician that works extremely hard at honing his craft. He is a multi-talented musician with many years of experience.
