Robin is a freelance musician and teacher based in Chicago, Illinois. An experienced ensemble player, she has played in the Bloomington Symphony, Indiana University Philharmonic Orchestra, and University of Toronto Symphony Orchestra. She has also been a member of a variety of chamber ensembles, ranging from flute and clarinet duos to woodwind quintets and Pierrot ensembles. Robin has been exploring electronic modes of instruction for the past four years, providing lessons through Skype and other online platforms such as YouTube. Robin is currently accepting students of all ages and levels. Robin has been performing contemporary music since the age of 15. She has worked closely with composers such as Don Freund, Aaron Travers, Ana Sokolovic, Keith Fitch, and Elizabeth Ogonek, as well as premiering over 50 works by young composers. She has been a member of Indiana University New Music Ensemble, New Voices Opera’s pit orchestra, University of Toronto gamUT ensemble and the Contemporary Youth Orchestra. While at Indiana University, Robin has performed at the Midwest Composer Symposium and SEAMUS’ national convention. The IU composition department awarded her the Mrs. Hong Pham Memorial Recognition Award for New Music Performance in 2016, given to the student who made the most significant overall contribution to the presentation of new music by student composers. In 2014, she was invited to be a resident performer for the Orford Creation Workshop in Quebec. She returned the following summer to work with Veronique Lacroix in the Contemporary Music Workshop. In the summer of 2016, Robin attended Fresh INC festival and SPLICE festival. 2013, Robin was the Ontario woodwind representative at the Federation of Canadian Music Festival’s National Competition, where she placed second overall. She has performed in master classes with Michael Hasel, Conor Nelsen, Jeanne Baxtresser, and Jeffery Khaner. In 2014, she was a recipient of the Kingsway Humber Foundation Scholarship. Robin was also a two-time recipient of the Musical Arts Society of Cleveland’s scholarship. She holds a masters degree from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music where she studied with Kate Lukas and Thomas Robertello. Robin also received a Bachelors of Music with Distinction from University of Toronto, having studied with Leslie Newman. Other notable teachers include Marisela Sager, Linda Miller and Joseph Juhos.
