Sandy is a special teacher!
Sandy has been a musician all of her life having grown up in a family of pianists and organists. She has made her living for most of her adult life as a piano teacher and a voice teacher(with a little cello thrown in) and as a church choir director and pianist/organist. Sandy is a natural at teaching. She combines a solid knowledge of the technical aspects of music and musicianship with a skillful ability to connect with her students and to not only teach them the technical aspects but to tech them how to "make music"! She is patient and understanding, but also holds high expectations for her students. She works equally well with young and old alike. Her students range in age from children as young as five or six to adults who are well into their sixties and every age in between. She is well-loved by her students for her skill and her ability to encourage and challenge them. Students are very loyal to Sandy and study with her for many years because of what they learn and how she makes them feel. Sandy started teaching me piano at the tender age of 40 and I studied with her for 20 years until she moved away last year. I miss her. She is the best!! Kate Luce wrote on Mon, 16 May 2016
Reference for Sandy
Sandy became our pianist and music director a couple of years ago. Sandy found us and we found her when she provided music for a family that had just lost their daughter in a traffic accident. We were without a music director and choir director for our morning worship services. Sandy was an instant blessing for our church and especially the choir members. Sandy performed wonders with our choir members, including myself, teaching us proper breathing and diction and making the music come alive on Sunday mornings and Thursday evenings at choir practice. Sandy had high expectations for the choir and worked well with all members. She was both patient and firm in teaching us many techniques that improved are the way we spoke the message of the anthems and hymns we sang. She was with us for a short period of time but was loved by all. Sandy was always on time. When we searched for a new music director we specifically looked for someone with Sandy's capabilities. If we had the opportunity to hire her back we would do so immediately. Sandy was one of a kind and works well with any age group.. Dave Kullgren wrote on Sat, 21 May 2016
