About Me

Hello! My name is Eric and I'm a multi-instrumentalist with the deepest history on trumpet. I began playing the trumpet at the age of 7, taking private lessons that I continued through high school with several wonderful teachers. I began playing in ensembles at the age of 9. I began playing the bass at 15, drums at 17, and guitar at 19. I now perform on all instruments. I’ve been very fortunate to play and perform in a wide number and variety of ensembles over the years. I'm a big fan of funk, soul, rock & roll, salsa, afrobeat, jazz, razmatazz, and acoustic hootenanny music. Looking forward to working with you.

Review:

Eric S. is an inspiring musician and a great teacher!

I have had the pleasure of knowing Eric and enjoying his music for the past 8 years. In college I watched as he performed several instruments in the most interesting and techincally complex salsa, jazz, dub reggae, rock, soul and gospel bands. When I was interested in playing trumpet, he taught me those basic skills, and when I felt like taking up the bass, he taught me some dirty base lines. Despite being a technically proficient musical genius, he is one of the kindest and most approachable people I know. His interminable patience combined with the depth of his musical skill and understanding create the perfect combination for a music teacher for students of any skill level and experience. He is also incredibly honest and has great interpersonal skills. I can't recommend him highly enough! Aaron Greenberg wrote on Wed, 24 Feb 2016

    Highly Recommend

I have known Eric for many years and have seen him dazzle many people with his down-to-earth, all-inclusive, good vibrations. I have always been struck by his innate talents as well as his desire and will to share them with others. He is both a brilliant musician and also patient teacher and can relate to all types of people at different levels of learning and abilities. A warm-hearted and lovable person, I am happy to see him teaching and sharing his knowledge and skill with others. I definitely recommend Eric as your next music teacher-- you will learn so much, feel very supported throughout the process, and have a bucket load of fun! Tess Parker wrote on Wed, 24 Feb 2016

Eric S is a special person!

Music flows from Eric. He is music! I've seen him perform on almost every instrument from Sousaphone to drumset to guitar and trumpet. He is warm, generous, incredibly smart and most importantly treats everyone around him with respect and kindness. I'd definitely trust my own children with him for music lessons. I wish he lived here so they could study with him. Bill Carbone wrote on Fri, 26 Feb 2016
