Lisa K., a Washington Metropolitan Area native, is active as a solo, chamber, and orchestral clarinetist as well as a pedagogue. She performs with the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, Albany Symphony Orchestra, and Sinfonia Gulf Coast. She has served as a substitute with the Tucson Chamber Orchestra; the 257th Army Band of Washington, DC; and Orchestra Iowa. Lisa K. tours the United States as a member of Duo Rodinia with percussionist and composer Jamie Whitmarsh. Recent touring highlights include a 2014 Carnegie Hall debut and a 2015 College Music Society Conference performance. As a founding member of the AZG Wind Quintet, Lisa K. was selected to perform at the Dr. Alfonso Ortiz Tirado Music Festival in Alamos, Mexico. The AZG Winds were 2009 national finalists in the Music Teacher's National Association Chamber Music Competition and the Coleman Chamber Music Competition.
A champion of contemporary repertoire, Lisa K. has premiered and commissioned numerous chamber works, and is currently part of a six work commissioning and recording project for Duo Rodinia. She may be heard on the Naxos label with the Florida State University Symphony Orchestra performing Dohnányi’s Symphony No. 2 and 3 Songs, op. 22. Lisa K. recorded Gina Biver’s Skating Still which was selected for the International 60x60 Project, broadcast in cities around the world, and distributed on an album by Vox Novus. Lisa K. gave the premiere of the revised edition of Μνήσθητί μου Κύριε by Joshua William Mills at the Sixteenth Biennial Festival of New Music at Florida State University. In November of 2013, she performed Daniel Nelson's Clarinet Concerto (2000) at the Tallahassee Composer's Orchestra debut concert.
In addition to a recent faculty position at Darton State College, Lisa K. has taught lessons, given masterclasses, and lectured at Oklahoma City University, University of Central Oklahoma, Southwestern Oklahoma State University, East Central University, Furman University, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Mars Hill University, Samford University, Troy University, University of South Alabama, George Mason University, Tennessee Tech University, Florida State University, University of North Carolina at Asheville, Mississippi University for Women, Yukon High School, and the Thomasville Music Academy. Her secondary school students on both clarinet and saxophone have received superior ratings at Solo and Ensemble festivals and participated in All State Band.
