About Me

A native Tennessean from Murfreesboro, Rebecca Wi. graduated from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, where she toured with the Rhodes College Singers throughout the Southeastern U.S. and the United Kingdom. Additional performance credits include opening for Mel Torme at the Johnny Mercer Festival in Savannah, GA, the International Association for Jazz Education (IAJE) Conference, the Albany Symphony Orchestra, Sambuca Jazz Cafe, Borders Books and Music nationwide, University of North Texas, Eddie's Attic, and St. Simons Island Jazz-in-the-Park Series. She has also enjoyed featured vocal artist performing stints in Japan, England, Scotland, Wales, and France, and with pianist Mac Frampton and the Hollywood Hills Orchestra, touring in concert venues throughout the U.S. Rebecca's voice can be heard on countless artist albums and jingles, and her commercial recording portfolio includes session work for the Cartoon Network, MCI, Haverty's Furniture, Napa Auto Parts and other Atlanta corporations. Rebecca has been playing the piano by ear since age 7, but it wasn't until the age of 9 when she began learning to read music through classical training. Receiving superior ratings at piano competitions took her to Belmont College in Nashville, TN to perform in recitals at an early age. Years later, as Rebecca's singing career blossomed, she was never without her muse-the piano. Returning to school as an adult to receive a Master's Degree in Music, she rediscovered harmony and the lush chords and fascinating rhythms that make up jazz. In 2001, this award-winning singer-songwriter released her debut album of original music "To A Warmer Heart", which features Rebecca's piano playing as well as that of other outstanding musicians. She has written piano songs appropriate for students of almost any age from late beginner to early advanced levels, and enjoys accompanying, producing, and mentoring her students along the way. Rebecca has experience working in Japan as a solo act accompanying herself on piano, and has arranged for jazz trio, big band and orchestra. **IMPORTANT: Please note, RE: this instructor's availability, while every effort is made to keep it current on the TRM website profile, it is best that you check directly with instructor at the time of booking your first lesson to determine availability and whether or not your available times will match, as availability is subject to change.

Rebecca was fabulous!

She was patient and helped explain all the theory and science behind voice. I've had some experience in the past so she was able to quickly adapt the lesson to assess my voice and provide recommendations to work on. Booking a package for sure!!! Alex Stokman wrote on Mon, 13 Dec 2021

Rebecca Is A Gem-Lucky to Have Found Her!

Lessons with the exuberant, positive, and incredibly knowledgeable Rebecca made an impact within the first few weeks of my working with her. I found that I had more control over my voice at the microphone singing with my band and better breath awareness and support. Additionally, Rebecca encouraged me to get a medical baseline of my laryngeal functioning, where I discovered the early onset of some potential voice issues. She works within my sphere of health and tailors her lessons to scaffold the work I have been doing with a speech-language pathologist as I resolve my medical concerns. She is a gem and I feel very lucky to be working with her. Rebecca Wi.- wrote on Wed, 10 May 2023

T.W. from Pittsboro, NC. In-Person Voice Student

Since I have been taking voice lessons from Rebecca, my voice has shifted into another level of capacity that I had not been able to achieve on my own. Her ability to teach new techniques in breath work has changed the way I perform, in a way that is easier physically, while also giving me greater accessibility in voice control and range. I am grateful to have the privilege to learn with Rebecca. Rebecca Wi.- wrote on Wed, 10 May 2023

C.M. from Los Angeles, CA. Online Voice Student

It's been a while since I've done anything vocally and I was really nervous to get myself back out there again. With vigorous research, trying to find a coach willing to work with me and my hectic schedule, I found Rebecca. She's helped me gain my confidence back as well as helping me understand how my instrument truly worked. Within such a short period of time I could already hear the difference in my voice and the clarity in my sound. Especially my head voice which I was super self conscious about. Rebecca has always been beyond patient and so willing to work with me as an online student despite our time differences. She pushes me farther than my mind would allow me to go and has so much faith in my abilities as a student. Her confidence in me makes me want to work even harder to achieve my goals! I am so thankful to have her as my teacher and I always look forward to my time with her. Rebecca Wi.- wrote on Wed, 10 May 2023

Rebecca is the best voice instructor! H.L., In Person

          D. and I wanted to write a testimonial and share our outstanding experience with Rebecca..... We were searching for the most professional voice coach and instructor and found Rebecca's profile on line at ******. We were impressed with her career and experience and we reached out to ******, and shared we only wanted to work with Rebecca. Although she was already fully booked, Rebecca agreed to take D. on as a student at {a later time slot}. The fact that she would accommodate him was amazing and speaks to her flexibility and commitment to her students. Shortly after beginning lessons with Rebecca, D. made the decision to apply to UNCSA's 12 grade drama program. We had a short time between deciding to apply and actually having to submit the application. Rebecca was outstanding in her quick responsiveness to help. She literally sprung into action helping to guide D. in the process of song selection, ethical and legal aspects of acquiring the songs and materials and helped him to perfect his voice and song. Rebecca is an outstanding instructor and D.'s admission to UNCSA is in great part due to Rebecca's excellent instruction. H. L., Chapel Hill, NC Rebecca Wi.- wrote on Thu, 08 Jun 2023
