Sam Fru.
Guitar Lessons, Bass Guitar Lessons
Home
10 Years
I was born in St. Louis, MO and started playing bass when I was 10 years old. Since then I have studied with a multitude of teachers, played with hundreds of musicians, and have taught many bass and general music lessons. I enjoy teaching and find joy in watching minds grow through music.
Sam Fru. has over 10 years of music experience in the New Orleans area.
Sam Fru. is proficient in and teaches Guitar Lessons, Bass Guitar Lessons .Formal Education:
I graduated from Webster Groves High School in 2011 and I am currently earning my bachelors in music education at Loyola University New Orleans.
Private Education:
I started out studying bass guitar when I was 12. Since then I have been mostly playing upright bass and taking lessons with many world class bassists. I have also gotten to have brief private instructions with bassists such as Christian McBride, Larry Grenadier, John Clayton, and many others.
Performing Experience:
I have been performing what seems like my entire life. It was mostly rock performance until high school when my focus turned to Jazz. Then I was asked to join the Jazz St. Louis All-Stars where I had the privilege to play and learn form the best musicians in the area as well as visiting musicians. I played hundreds of shows in St. Louis along with opening up for such acts as Sonny Rollins, Al Jarreau, and Gordon Goodwin. Since moving to New Orleans, I continue to perform Jazz as well as many rock shows in the clubs around the city. Unlike in St. Louis, my amount of performances on upright bass and electric bass are about equal.
Experience Teaching:
Over the past 5 years I have gave lessons to various young bass players as well as young jazz groups. While at school at Loyola, I get a lot of opportunities to teach in the local schools.
