Review About Me
I love music and strive to share that with my students. I believe that music should be fun and that any student can learn to play a piece and have fun with it. I focus on technique first, reading second, and finally having fun.
Michael Lai- has over 30+ years of music experience in the Summerville area.
Michael Lai- is proficient in and teaches Keyboard and Piano Lessons, Orchestral Lessons .Formal Education:
Bachelors of Occupational Education in Music-Wayland Baptist University Masters in Divinity - Emory University
Private Education:
US Army School of Music Basic and Advanced Courses
Performing Experience:
Over 30 years of performance experience with the US Army Band Program, various orchestras, chamber ensembles, and vocal groups. I played Oboe, English Horn, Saxophone with the Army Band. Also, conducted a professional chorus, and many church choirs. Started on piano at the age of 4 and still play in church when I can.
Experience Teaching:
Private lessons on oboe, saxophone, and piano since 1983. Also, master classes for oboe sectionals, and chamber groups. Founded and ran the National Youth Orchestra of Panama summer camp, providing instrumental training, chamber music, orchestra techniques, and ear training. Also, teach students theory and music history within my lessons.
