I have been a professional guitar player for 30 years plus. My influences run the gamut from Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix to current players like Robben Ford, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and David Grissom. I have 2 Cd's out that sell on all the digital networks such as Itunes and have been actively playing and promoting them in live shows from Austin, Texas to Southern California and now Portland, Oregon. I teach most genres of guitar from rock to fingerstyle acoustic, pop, and of course my favorite, blues and roots guitar. My teaching philosophy is to first make sure the student is able to have some fun on the instrument and to fill in the technical and theory details as we go. I teach advanced soloing theory such as scales and modes and arpeggios as well as just a simple song if that's what the student wants.
James G has over 30+ years of music experience in the Lake Oswego area.
James G is proficient in and teaches Guitar Lessons, Bass Guitar Lessons .Formal Education:
I finished high school at Windermere secondary in Vancouver, Canada.
Private Education:
My private education came in the form of private lessons with some of Vancouver's finest musician's such as Jazz great piano player Jerry Inman, and guitarist Rick Cowie.
Performing Experience:
James is a one of a kind guitarist. His style is compared by critics to Eric Johnson, Satriani, Gary Moore and Pink Floyd. His band 'Blues Mythology' is a Funky Modern Blues Rock Band. James recently moved to Portland from CA and has joined forces creating a spectacular album which will be launched at the end of Nov with veteran LA singer and well known hammond player Dennis Newman. He has performed in places around the globe including: South Africa, Canada and USA (Texas, Las Vegas, Orange County, LA, Portland.) James has performed at the The Coach House and Galaxy opening for Steve Hacket (Genesis), Eric Sardinas, James Cotton and recently played in a guitar extravaganza with Gary Hoey and Chris Poland and Ohm which was a great success. He has played for top Events/Festivals and Wrap parties for film stars such as Lou Gossett, Jr. James has played many of the top west coast music festivals and played the Sawdust Festival in Laguna Beach every year for the past 5 years. He has also played Music West in British Columbia Canada, and Sumac Mountain Annual Festival. James has also won awards for his song 'Jade' aired on CFOX Radio, Vancouver. His Song 'Patong Beach' aired on ABC primetime in a segment with Macy Gray, and 'So Many Nights' currently airs on All my Children in their bar scenes.
