Robert Ho.
Guitar Lessons
Home or Studio
16 Years
I've been teaching guitar lessons for over 15 years, and in my experience, students really enjoy a personalized approach! I do not like to adhere to one sort of method for all students. Some like to work out of a book, being very structured, while others have very direct interests (they might "only" want to learn lead guitar, for example). And while certainly I as an instructor can and should encourage beginners in particular to learn some common fundamentals, I most enjoy giving a student a unique experience, tailoring my lessons for them. My musical influences are mainly classic rock lead guitarists (Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Angus Young) and jazz guitar masters (Grant Green, Herb Ellis, Joe Pass). I love lead guitar, both jazz and rock n' roll, and I'm most happy playing melodies and leads!
Robert Ho. has over 16 years of music experience in the Madison area.
Robert Ho. is proficient in and teaches Guitar Lessons .Formal Education:
Bachelor of Music, Guitar performance, Bowling Green State University, 2003.
Private Education:
My first private instructor was John Whitaker, of Bowling Green Ohio, from 1995-1999. After that, my education was from music college and BGSU and all of the fine professors there, and the "school of hard knocks!" (performing).
Performing Experience:
I began performing with small garage type rock bands just six months after starting guitar! My first few years of playing were filled with garage parties, which then led to playing in clubs by the time I was 18. Once I began to pick up jazz, I soon began playing in jazz clubs, such as Easy Street Cafe in Bowling Green, Ohio, as well as the legendary Rusty's Jazz Cafe in Toledo, Ohio. I also did numerous events, weddings, and recitals during that time. Not content to only play jazz, I also formed a jazz rock fusion group, Paragon, which played throughout NW Ohio and SE Michigan. I recorded two albums with this group. Finally, while at BGSU I also studied classical guitar, and in that capacity did numerous guitar recitals.
Experience Teaching:
I began teaching guitar almost as soon as I was good enough to start playing shows with local garage bands, barely a year after I started! Guitar instruction has remained a part of my life ever since. Everywhere life has taken me, I have sooner or later began teaching guitar to students.
