Hi, my name is Sarah, and I am a soprano, violinist, and composer from Los Angeles. I have received 15+ years of classical training in voice, violin, and music theory, and I hold a bachelor's in Music from Occidental College. In my lessons, you can expect to learn how to sing your favorite songs as well as discover some new favorites. My approach as a teacher is to work on songs/pieces that excite students while also building their technique by incorporating classical repertoire. The most rewarding thing to me about teaching is seeing students grow into their voices and gain confidence when performing. I primarily teach voice, but I can also teach violin. What to expect in my Vocal Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate
Every few months we will work on 3-5 songs and get those to a performance level before moving onto new repertoire. We will always work on songs/pieces that challenge us while finding our own unique sound and style.
What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate
We will learn basic music theory principals, common chord progressions, and song structure and use that knowledge to form original songs. I like to challenge my students to work in and out of these rules to create their unique and personal style. Students will also workshop lyrics and gain tools to create their own songs outside of lessons.
Formal Education:
Received a bachelor's degree in Music Composition from Occidental College, Class of 2024.
Private Education:
Sarah has studied under various professional opera singers over the span of a decade, and continues to take lessons. Sarah studied violin in a private studio for over ten years and continues to play as a recording artist in film soundtracks and albums.
Performing Experience:
Sarah has performed in semi-professional and professional opera and musical theater productions with Occidental College, Pasadena City College, and Pacific Opera Project. Additionally, she produced and starred in an original musical while attending Occidental College in 2023 titled: The Seven Deadly Seas.
