I started playing music when I was 10. I had a choice, take home ec or band at the start of 6th grade. The only instrument my family had at the time was an old electric guitar. Looking back at that seemingly small decision, it was the best one of my life.
I started playing more and more in high school. I started taking piano and voice lessons to supplement the guitar. I played in a few bands during high school as well. I also took up recording and began to intern at local studios in the area.
After graduating from high school I went the University of Colorado at Denver to study music, music business and the recording arts. It was during my time at UCD that I had another seemingly small choice to make that would ultimately lead me down my career path. I was jamming downtown in Denver at a piano on a promenade and a rapper approached me and asked if I would produce for him. Before thinking I said yes. At the time I did not know a thing about hip hop.
I now professionally produce and write hip hop, dance and pop and own a recording studio in Denver Colorado. I have worked with Chiddy Bang, Nate King, Feleke', Jaguar, Super Junior M, Kerli and Nylon Pink to name a few.
My musical journey has been epitomized by small choices and I decided to make another, seemingly small choice and I started teaching lessons with the hope that I can be the dot that connects another person's "seemingly small choice" to start playing music.

Shane Ro. has over 3 years of music experience in the Burbank area.
Shane Ro. is proficient in and teaches Guitar Lessons, Keyboard and Piano Lessons, Vocal Lessons, Song Writing Lessons, Record Engineer Produce .Formal Education:
I studied music and recording arts at the University of Colorado at Denver (UCD) and graduated with my bachelors degree.
Private Education:
Like I mentioned I started playing guitar when I was 10 and I have had lessons on and off my whole life. Most recently I have taken private lessons from instructors at UCD who I thought could offer up some new playing techniques. Early in my musical career I was taught using the Suzuki Method, but at the time I did not know that is what it was called.
Performing Experience:
I have performed with numerous local acts in the Denver area including Laura Brehm and Saige, but I much prefer to be in a studio.
Experience Teaching:
I have been teaching for almost 3 years now. I have never had a lot of students at one time (the most being 4) because at the time I was teaching while I was in college.
As I mentioned earlier, I was taught learning what I later found out was the Suzuki Method. I feel because of my musical up bringing, that I have a pretty round view of the benefits and shortcomings of the Suzuki Method. When I got to college I had to play catch up with sight reading, but because of my experience with learning how to play by ear I found myself able to feel where a musical phrase was going before it went there. This allows me to perform a little bit more instead of read.
I don't teach a whole lot of classical music. I have only taught it when asked. Most of my students want to be contemporary musicians so I teach them contemporary methods that are applicable to their interests. I have also taught songwriting and audio production. I teach in my studio at my Condo. Because I teach more contemporary styles, students love all of the gadgets and recording gear. I don't just have a piano, but synthesizers, workstations, beat machines, guitars, etc. It gives a student a little room to grow and breathe musically. I also, once a quarter (every 6 weeks to me), record a song that a student has been working on. I mix and master it for them so they can hear and show their parents, friends and family what they have been up to!
