Mark was born in California but was raised in the sleepy town of Beaverton, Oregon. He entered into the world of creativity and music when he was thirteen by composing poetry and song lyrics, and began dabbling with his sister's used classical guitar when he was 15. From there, he taught himself simple songs by composers like Neil Young, America and Crosby Stills and Nash and developed a keen interest in rock and blues. He was extremely dedicated to the guitar, as well as evolving his singing voice and didn't miss a day of practice for over 6 years, bringing his second-hand guitar with him everywhere he went.
Mark began performing around this time as well, in his early 20's, playing at parties and small clubs and coffee shops. He specialized in songs with strong vocal parts and worked diligently at perfecting his singing voice and his ability to accompany himself smoothly and precisely. He raised the level of professionalism up on his own writing skills publishing a lyrical device in a poetry publication known as “In Dappled Sunlight” and enjoying some radio airplay for one of his songs. He was also fortunate enough to open for the illustrious Paul Kantner and Jefferson Starship in an acoustic set in Denver, Co.
Although there are many singer/songwriters, Mark is unique due to his ability to incorporate passion into the simplest of pieces and change dynamics and emotion at the flick of his wrist. He is truly one of the best rhythm guitar players I've ever seen, changing from pensive and melodious brooding paces to full-on rock-and-roll jams and can play virtually infinite numbers of styles with skillful confidence. He is also an amazing and patient teacher working with students from the ripe-young age of 6 to wiser and reflective students in their 60's.
Mark now lives in the beautiful town of Fort Collins Colorado where he both performs and teaches with regularity and also owns and operates his counseling practice where he specializes in helping children and adults work through anxiety and depression. If you are interested in developing your ability to sing and play, or learning how to play rhythm guitar with passion and precision, check out what he has to offer.

Experience Teaching:
I have over 20 years of teaching experience working with people of all ages, races and walks of life. I focus on people's strengths and work with each of them as individuals, rather than having a set agenda to teach from. I've found that recognizing each person as an individual having a different set of experiences and ideas about music helps me to tailor-make each lesson plan specifically to the needs and desires of the student.I also emphasis the passion and power that is intrinsic to almost all music and teach my students how to find it, and bring it out.
