Hey there, my name is Jackson and I am a current candidate for the BFA in Musical Theatre at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. I have been studying music for around 6 years and have been in musical productions as leading roles for the last 12 years, including two leads in original productions of a musical and an opera. I have been directing, working, and teaching kids from ages 5-18. I have directed and written two musical showcases at the Emerging Artists Camp in Shelbyville, KY as well as work as a counselor there in 2021 and 2022. I have also done lesson planning and teaching camps at the Homewood Theatre in Birmingham, Alabama just this year. My voice coaching goes back to high school working with Broadway professionals as well as in college in which I am currently enrolled and taking voice at a high level with industry professionals. My biggest musical influence is honestly my grandmother who is a classically trained vocalist and a former music teacher. She knows how to lead kids without being harsh or misunderstanding, which are some of my highest values of being a teaching artist. I think the more the young artists feel confident in who they are both as a person and as a performer. Life without music is so boring and not a life I want to see, so the more artists feeling confident and comfortable with their abilities is such a beautiful thing to see today. I love music and I love teaching and I would love to be a part of this company!
