As your voice teacher, students can expect a comprehensive and personalized learning experience that caters to their unique vocal needs and aspirations. With a rich background in music education, including specialized training at the Dillard School for Performing Arts and a full scholarship in the Concert Chorale at Bethune-Cookman College (now University), my approach combines technical expertise with a deep passion for nurturing emerging talent. Students will learn the fundamentals of voice placement and breathing techniques, ensuring a solid foundation for vocal health and performance longevity. Emphasis will be placed on warm-up exercises that prepare the voice for singing, with a focus on safe and effective vocal production. Beyond technical skills, students will explore a diverse repertoire tailored to their individual interests and developmental stage, from classical to contemporary genres. I will guide students in interpreting music and lyrics, helping them to convey emotion and connect with their audience authentically. Expect to engage in constructive feedback sessions where progress is celebrated, and areas for improvement are identified with kindness and professionalism. My goal is to foster a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel empowered to take risks and express themselves musically. As a mentor, I am committed to guiding students through their musical journey, offering insights from my experiences in various choirs, bands, and musical productions.
