Hi, my name is Leon, and I am a Countertenor from Newark, DE. I have been a music student for over 13 years. My musical influences include Disney, Church music, Choir, Opera, and Musicals, and I also enjoy Karaoke now and then. My teaching style is fun, exciting, fresh, modern, educational, and accessible. My teaching philosophy is best described by saying that music-making should be 50% fun and 50% productive. In my lessons, you can expect to learn how the voice works, what works best for your voice, how to use language as an avenue for healthy singing, and try new things you might need more clarification on at first. A part of music-making is making mistakes and learning and growing from them: we can make that happen together. I like to tell my students to be confident. Don’t be afraid of what sounds your voice may make–any sound can be produced and made healthily. My favorite thing about teaching is getting to know, learn, grow, and work with my students & families. My favorite performance was when I played Laurie Laurence in Little Women & Prince Charming in Cendrillon. My students love that I laugh and chat with them during our lessons. I primarily teach Musical theater and characterization, but I can also teach classical music and diction languages. My approach as a teacher is to see what the voice is already doing and improve on the foundation that we already have. All music-making is joyous music-making. Thanks for taking a look at my profile. Hope to meet you soon!
