Hi, my name is Amye. Music has been a part of my life from an early age. As a young child, my mom was a church worship leader and played piano both in church and in our home, teaching me the basics of the piano and involving my siblings and I in music. My favorite songs to listen to growing up were classical, soundtracks, and contemporary Christian. At 11 years old, I stumbled across some violins at a homeschool convention and immediately, I was drawn in. My youngest brother and I convinced our parents to buy us each a violin and that’s where my strings journey began. 18 years later, I am continuing to grow my skills in violin and cello, focusing on my favorite genres: classical, theatrical/soundtracks, and worship. Most of my experience and advanced training is through playing with worship bands and a music ministry degree program. In 2022, I received a college education in music and worship ministry through Bethel Music College. Through the college, I had the opportunity to learn from Christian songwriters including Brian and Jenn Johnson, Kaley Heilegenthal, Steffany Gretzinger, Amanda Cook, Phil Wickam, Kari and Cody Carnes, Brandon Lake, Brooke Ligertwood, and others. I also received private mentorship from a strings player who is a professional recording and traveling musician, and teaches music lessons at the college. My heart is to share the skills I’ve learned throughout my music journey with you so that you can be well equipped to play your instrument or write songs, whether you are doing it just for fun or you are pursuing a calling of music on your life.
Amye F. has over 0.5 years of music experience in the Davenport area.
Amye F. is proficient in and teaches Song Writing Lessons, Orchestral Lessons .Degree and Field of Study:
What to expect in my Orchestral Lessons
Currently, the only orchestral instrument I offer lessons for is violin. In my violin lessons, I can teach classical and worship/Christian generes, worship being my specialty. In all of my violin lessons we will work through the Essential Elements books for strings players and discuss each concept in further detail, working through extra exercises I learned from my most recent private mentor as needed. For students wanting to focus on worship music, we will also talk about the heart of worship in our lessons and the dynamics of playing with a worship band. Additional music theory (such as chords and chord charts) that does not appear in the Essential Elements books but is essential to playing in a worship band, will also be discussed.
What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons
Currently, I only teach song writing in the worship/Christian music genera, as that is where my education and experience are. In worship and Christian music, I believe the heart behind the song is more important than anything else. In my lessons, we will talk a lot about the heart of worship and how it leads to creating worship songs. We will work through one or two books that combine both the heart of worship and practicals about writing songs. Assignments will come from the books and methods I learned from Christian song writers in school. I will also introduce some music theory, as it is critical to understand when writing songs. You must have a keyboard or a midi keyboard available for lessons. If you don't know how to use them, that's okay, I can teach you the basics. If you have a guitar and know how to play it, you may use it in place of a keyboard.
