Katherine L.

Katherine made her musical debut at five years old as Suzie in “Suzie Snowflake” in her Kindergarten winter musical and from there it was love at sight. She is originally from Delaware, Ohio but has lived in Tucson, Arizona and Redlands, California too. Katherine continued her passion and love for music she played leading roles such as Cinderella from Into the Woods, Agnes Gooch from Mame, Marian Poro from Music Man, and Mabel from Pirates of Penzance, playing the flute from fourth grade to senior year of high school, and starting private voice, piano, and flute lessons at the age of fifteen. There she went on to complete here Bachelor in Music, Vocal Performance at the Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio winning the Most Improved Singer Award two years in a row and playing Polly in Threepenny Opera and Lily in the Secret Garden. There she worked under Dr. Jennifer Schuetz for four years afterward college Katherine kept honing her vocal and theatrical skills through other teachers, Phil Wallace pop, Broadway, Jazz, Gospel and Clara Salomon Classical and opera. Then in 2017, she enrolled in opera, Italian, and acting courses at the University of Arizona while studying under both Dr. Yunah Lee Classical and opera and Dr. Hugo Vera Classical, cabaret, opera, and Musical Theatre and performing as Dater #8 in the student produced Speed Dating Opera. Most recently she graduated from University of Redlands’ Master in Music in Vocal Performance program in December playing double roles in the opera Socrate by Satie, learned the opera La voix humaine and Tibaldi in I Capuleti e I Montechi, performed in two Singer Showcases, “Quando m’en vo” at an Opera Gala, and two graduate recitals. Outside of her academic music career she has performed in several churches as a lead soloist, section leader, and conductor along with San Luis Potosi Opera Festival in Mexico, Scuola Giovanni Grasso in Montreal, Quebec, Lawrence Opera Theatre Festival in Kansas, University of Arizona Summer Intensive Program, and Acting for Singers Workshop at Eastman School of Music. When is not working hard practicing in the studio or teaching, she loves to travel and have new adventures, spending time with her two cats, Onyx and Zeo, dancing, shopping, reading, and learning something new every day!
