Emma S. has over 7 years of music experience in the East Lansing area.
Emma S. is proficient in and teaches Keyboard and Piano Lessons, Vocal Lessons, Song Writing Lessons, Orchestral Lessons .What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons
Students can expect critiques and positive affirmation with each aspect of their playing. Propper technique is a string player's bread and butter. Encouraging students to look into the background and history of each piece they are playing is essential to understanding what type of technique to use and how to properly use it.
What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons
The best songs on the radio are crafted by individuals who understand how to balance music theory with creativity. I like to think of music theory as the physics of music. How cool is that! My mission is to show students how to follow their creative intuition and enhance their vision with suggestions of minuscule alterations of chords. In music composition and songwriting, the composer is always right! The same can be said in these lessons. I am just here to open up students' minds to new concepts they can add to their music if they so choose.
What to expect in my Orchestral Lessons
Students can expect critiques and positive affirmation with each aspect of their playing. Propper technique is a string player's bread and butter. Encouraging students to look into the background and history of each piece they are playing is essential to understanding what type of technique to use and how to properly use it. If a student is in an ensemble I would be happy to help them think through the best ways to approach each note, whether that means what string it's played on, the fingers used, or where it's best placed in the bow at what speed.
What to expect in my Vocal Lessons
Students should expect experimentation and correction of each aspect of a song. By simply changing vowels, placement, support, tone, posture, and much more, students can learn how to produce the best sound they are capable of. I emphasize the importance of developing healthy habits when signing in order to strengthen the voice and protect it from possible damage. My speciality is nitpicking even the smallest details in a positive manner that keeps students motivated and engaged. Positive reinforcement paired with kind constructive criticism is the recipe for success!
