Hi, I'm Alex and I am a guitarist, pianist, and singer in Columbia, South Carolina. I have been studying music for over ten years. I am influenced by and have experience playing alternative rock, blues, pop, punk, and folk music. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I remember and know how it feels to be a beginner musician. In my lessons, you can expect to learn all the fundamentals of music theory. I like to tell my students to believe in themselves and to understand that patience and practice are necessary for growth. Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced
A casual setting where we will first practice fundamentals including but not limited to; identifying notes, intervals, scales and keys, major and minor chords, time signatures and other common musical terminology. Then we will look more closely at how chords and scales work to move toward understanding the circle of fifths and modes.
What to expect in my Guitar Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced

I have played at many open mics, school events and several small private events. I have a lot of experience playing together in local bands.

I have taught many friends, family members, band members and acquaintances helpful ways to understand music theory. I find being patient, being thorough, and approaching challenges from different angles to be the most effective.
