What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons

Beginner - Advanced - Intermediate

My songwriting pedagogy is simple: we first make sure we have a solid understanding of the music theory behind the song in question or to be written, and then we find the writing blocks. Why is this transition wonky? How do I get a different mood through my timbral choices? What am I actually trying to express? I have a million exercises for answering those questions, and pulling inspiration from students’ own experiences.

What to expect in my

Beginner - Advanced - Intermediate

I expect my students to want to understand what they are singing, and know how complicated the vocal instrument is. It is so important to have a solid ground in basic vocal technique, regardless of genre, or you risk permanent injury. I emphasize the importance of aural skills and improvisation, regardless of the genre. But most importantly, they must be enjoyable. Music is for fun, right? That’s why it’s called “playing” music! So if a student isn’t having a fun time, I will take our lesson in a different direction.

What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons

Beginner - - Intermediate

I expect my students to want to understand what they are playing, and I refuse to teach them “button-pressing.” I emphasize the importance of aural skills and improvisation, regardless of the genre. But most importantly, they must be enjoyable. Music is for fun, right? That’s why it’s called “playing” music! So if a student isn’t having a fun time, I will take our lesson in a different direction.

What to expect in my Drum Lessons

Beginner - Advanced - Intermediate

Tab is the bane of my existence and a blight on music pedagogy. I expect my students to want to understand what they are playing, and I refuse to teach them “whack the cylinders.” I emphasize the importance of aural skills and improvisation, regardless of the genre. But most importantly, they must be enjoyable. Music is for fun, right? That’s why it’s called “playing” music! So if a student isn’t having a fun time, I will take our lesson in a different direction.

Amazing Service and Noticeable Improvements

Caleb has been an absolute rockstar, from our original appointment all the way through present day. Caleb has been professional and helpful, and has even been flexible with my changing schedule. Since working with Caleb, I've not only learned the fundamental vocal lesson knowledge, but he has also provided me with an abundance of tools for continuous growth. As a current theater performer, I can confidently say I've noticed my voice expand and grow thanks to Caleb's guidance and his attention to detail when it comes to small changes that can be made to improve my voice.
