Hi, my name is Darius and I am a singing actor from Washington, D.C. I have been a student of music throughout my entire life--I have been told that I genuinely came out of the womb singing *chuckles*. My musical influences include anything from Queen, Mary Poppins, and Beyonce. I, too, enjoy anatomy, aural skills, and watching some of my favorite sitcoms on repeat. My teaching style can best be described as personal as DNA is to every human being--i.e. I believe in personalized lesson plans instead of robotic and singularized teaching methods. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I believe in accessible vocal coaching and teaching for all. I believe in encouraging students to find the best and most authentic artist that lives inside them. In my lessons, you can expect to learn that perfection is boring and that singing is simply about learning your process and how you work, as well as, developing healthy habits. I like to tell my students that there is no one like them all of the time and they should be proud to be the best version of themselves. My favorite thing about teaching is meeting so many different people at varying stages of their development with a love and passion for music. My students love that I am always encouraging them and healthily pushing them throughout their process. I primarily teach voice lessons, but I can also teach audition techniques, aural skills, vocal anatomy, and vocal pedagogy. Thanks for taking a look at my profile. Hope to meet you soon!
