Alison began singing and playing piano at the age of 8. Over the years, she had dedicated her life to the study of music including getting a PhD! She gained performance experience internationally as an opera singer but has performed in musical theater and jazz styles as well. Though Alison can teach many genres of music, her musical personal favorite is medieval music which she specializes in and has performed with internationally renown groups like Sequentia and the Boston Camerata. Alison loves music because of its ability to open the mind and impact the soul and loves teaching music because music is for everyone. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned professional, Alison can help you expand and enhance your playing. Alison is excited to learn how she can help you reach your musical goals. What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate
Students can expect a combination of technical exercises and stylistic coaching with songs chosen together. While we will focus on the genres of your choice, we will also work on classical vocal exercises as they are the foundation of all other vocal genres.
What to expect in my Vocal Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced
There are two styles of piano lessons we can choose from. The first, and most common, is to work from a curriculum of piano teaching books that are proven to progressively increase a keyboardist's ability to play notated music. The second is to work from basic chords and learn to play improvisationally.
