Hi! My name is Matthew. I'm 26 years old, born and raised in Las Vegas, and my life revolves around music. I began playing guitar at the age of 9, and started singing at 22. I love teaching them both, and can even teach songwriting! Currently, I'm the singer in the local rock band High Sierra Club, where I also write the songs. My favorite genres include Pop and Alternative rock, more specifically Pop Punk. I also once gave a singing lesson to Skyler Acord the bassist for Twenty One Pilots. I believe music is one of the most important things in the world, and I look forward to meeting you and working together.

Beginner - Intermediate
A fun environment focused more on playing than on bookwork. Music is a language. Theory will be taught as necessary to back up a new skill we're learning.
What to expect in my Vocal Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate
Lots of vocal exercises focused on several areas: Resonance/Placement, Vowel Shaping, Stamina, Riffs & Runs, Breathing Exercises, etc. Singing is more like the Gym than any other instrument, and it's very easy to fall out of shape/hurt yourself if you aren't properly warmed up or strong enough.
What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate
Songwriting lessons will focus on structure, communicating the artist's message, and valuable strategies to push the song forward when feeling stuck. I will cover several strategies I use when starting from scratch as well. Collaboration is huge also, and I plan on encouraging students to bring their half-songs and small ideas in to work on.
