About Me
Hi, I'm Aidan, and making meaningful connections, especially via music, is the stuff of life that wakes me up in the morning and keeps me motivated. Ever since I was old enough to cry, I've been making music. My parents will tell you I was the easiest baby to put to bed, because I literally rocked and hummed myself to sleep. In all of my memory I've been enraptured by the sonic world around me, and I've dedicated my life to trying to decipher the inter-workings of this puzzling and beautiful phenomenon we call music. After spending my childhood in countless voice and piano lessons, musical theatre performances, and high school rock bands, I went on to receive my Bachelor of Music in Composition/Theory with a Vocal Performance Minor from The Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University. During my time studying in Nashville, I had the pleasure of collaborating with hundreds of brilliantly talented musicians across many genres and walks of life. As such, my musical style is wide and all-inclusive; I've performed as a tenor with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra, toured around the U.S. with the elite Vanderbilt Chorale, and sung as a backup singer for pop star Bishop Briggs at Bonnaroo 2019. I write both classically inspired and folk/rock music and am a talented poet-lyricist. I'm also a trained keyboardist and a self-taught guitarist. Although I've primarily taught theory and songwriting in the past, I'm well equipped to give vocal coaching and teach piano fundamentals. I'm happy to give lessons in whatever style best suits your particular musical needs. Whether you ache to sing, play, or write, I'm determined you will leave my lessons with a more intimate understanding of and deeper appreciation for music!

What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons

Beginner - Intermediate

Piano and keyboard students can expect coaching on the following fundamentals: proper playing posture fingers/hands/wrists/arms/upper body, scale and fingering technique, music notation and reading skills, and repertoire building. If students are interested in electronic keyboards, I can also teach some synthesizer techniques.

What to expect in my Vocal Lessons

Beginner - Intermediate

My vocal training is primarily in classical solo and choral technique; however, my personal style also draws heavily from pop and jazz. Students can expect to receive coaching in whatever genre most inspires them, with focus on the following: proper breath support and posture, vocal health/maintenance, tone quality control, range expansion, ear training, and repertoire building. The overall aim will be to help the student develop a personal vocal style that fits their natural range and timbre.

What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons

Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced

Song writing and composition students can expect to receive guidance on developing a personal musical style, with focus on the following fundamentals: theory and notation, ear-training, basic keyboard skills, lyricism/poetic expression, analytical/close listening, and some music history. Lessons will cater to the student's individual needs and interests but will also include "listening homework" and exposure to new styles to help expand their imaginative palate and compositional toolbox.
