Keyboard and Piano Lessons
Studio
I am a sophomore Piano Performance major at Grand Canyon Univerisity. I have tutored students in piano technique, music theory, and composition/arrangement. I play more instruements than piano, but piano is my main focus. Although my major focuses on classical music, I enjoy learning and teaching other styles of music and improvisation. I teach by repertoire rather than method, so, you will be playing your favorite music and some other pieces that will help you develop agility and freedom on the piano, but most importantly, musicality.
Degree and Field of Study:
What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons
In the first lesson, we will talk about your goals, previous experience, the music you like, your commitment level, scheduling, and desired repertoire (we will play your favorite music together with the basics of piano). In the second lesson, we will set monthly/weekly goals and I will teach you how to creat a practice journal (I highly recommend you to learn to read music or be willing to learn to read music, but it is not required). From that on, we will review one or two pieces every class and I will give you insight on technique and musicianship. You will develop your own practice sessions and I will teach you to be selfaware and observant of your growth. I recommend one lesson per week (one hour per week for beginners and and hour or two for intermediate).
Formal Education:
Sophomore Piano Performance major.
Performing Experience:
I performed in worship teams for almost 10 years and directed one for 3 years. I participate in school recitals every semester (Jazz Band, Piano Ensemble, Piano Studio and sometimes Choird).
Experience Teaching:
I have taught music theory more than I have taught piano, but I used to tutor other piano students.
