Hi, my name is Brandie and I am a pianist, vocalist, and songwriter originally from Cincinnati. I have been a student of music for 12 years.... and LOVE it! I've been told that my teaching style can best be described as thoughtful, creative and challenging in a good way!. My teaching philosophy can best be described by this quote, “Tell me, and I forget. Show me, and I remember. Involve me, and I understand.”-Chinese proverb. In my piano lessons, you can expect to learn basic music theory, how to play by ear and from the heart. In my songwriting sessions, you can expect to soul-search, be creative, fun, and be proud of what you have to say through song. I began piano lessons when I was 12 for classical and jazz training, but then switched to gospel and contemporary Christian when I was 16. I became the Director of Music for that church when I was 17 and held that role full-time until I was 27. With that role came a responsibility for original songwriting, playing by ear, directing choirs/bands and being the full-time pianist. Additionally, I taught many choir members how to play piano, write their own solos and mentor them through the process. I now write music and play piano professionally through freelance work, but missed teaching. My favorite thing about teaching music is developing someones identity, style and voice through music. My students love that I challenge them, but also create a fun-interactive environment. I primarily teach basic music theory, and how to read chords but I can also teach more advance styles if requested. In songwriting, my students and peers have complimented me on my vulnerability, turn of phrase and full-circle approach when creating. Thanks for taking a look at my profile and I hope to meet you soon!

What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons
Students can expect to gain confidence about what they have to say and the skills on how to say it most effectively through music. I'm a very-open and vulnerable person and I believe this makes for a great co-writing session and understanding on what it is you want said. However, they do not have to be very open, but I do encourage them to journal, take voice memos and love what they write!
What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons
Students can expect to learn lots of basic/intermediate music theory, how to read chord charts and practice playing by ear.

Chase Goodwin
Brandie has a lot of experience and is such a vulnerable person-this shows in every song she writes. Just by being herself, she motivates me to be better and never give up on my music. Chase Goodwin wrote on Mon, 30 Nov -0001
