Ms. Dawn was born and raised in Ontario Canada and has been teaching music for over 25 years. She has a degree in piano and voice from the University of Windsor Ontario with a minor in trumpet. She achieved her music education degree from Calvin College in Grand Rapids Michigan. She has taught several choirs/brass choirs/marching bands/tone chime choirs and has put on several plays, talent shows, recitals, and elementary and high school performances. She has traveled to Italy to perform with school bands as well as singing with the International Symphony Chorus. One of Ms. Dawn cherished moments was when she was contacted by the Make a Wish Foundation to help grant a wish to a young girl who always wanted to learn music and she helped make her dream come true. Ms. Dawn taught over 5 years for the London District School Board and the Lambton County School board in Sarnia Ontario. In the Houston/Katy area she has taught for over 16 years privately and has enjoyed it immensely. Ms. Dawn has been married for over 17 years and is a proud mother of two beautiful children. Ms. Dawn has a genuine love for teaching and watching children and adults thrive musically and educationally and she is looking forward to working with all her students.

What to expect in my Vocal Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced
Students can expect an all encompassing piano/keyboard experience. Areas which will be addressed are technique/theory/thorough knowledge of the repertoire selected and historical aspects of all pieces. A variety of styles can be applied to help understand the concepts that went into creating the pieces they are playing. Having the students have an enjoyable piano/keyboard experience and keeping it light and fun is also important to fostering a continual growth and love for music.
What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced
Students can expect excellent knowledge and applications of vocal breathing/intonation/solfege/diction/phrasing/and theory applications. Vocal control and knowledge of the breathing system will be reviewed each lesson. Building self esteem and stage presence and performance techniques while singing will be addressed and applied. Fostering and nurturing the natural and internal vocal talent is important to opening up the creative side of any student and Ms. Dawn looks forward to helping her students find and apply their natural passion for singing.

Started private piano lessons at the age of five. Studied voice/piano throughout high school and university levels.
Performing Experience:
Performed with the international symphony chorus and in various bands/stage bands/marching bands/concert bands and piano/vocal recitals.
Experience Teaching:
Have taught for over 25 years in elementary/middle/high school levels as well as privately Prepared students for UIL performances and auditions as well as various talent shows and performances. TEA certified teacher.
