4 Years
Max grew up in a musician’s household. From a very early age, Max’s father surrounded him with blues, jazz, and soul music. Finally, at the age of 10, Max decided to let his father teach him guitar. Over the course of the next 8 years, Max learned to play blues, jazz, and the like while sitting in with the blues bands that would play at his father’s restaurant. At the age of 18, Max decided to go to college in Memphis, TN to study music at Rhodes College. After college, Max began playing professionally in Memphis and internationally with acts such as Tony Holiday, John Paul Keith, and his own group under his own name. Max has recorded several albums of original music, both for his own group and for Tony Holiday. In the teaching realm, Max has taught private lessons for just over 4 years. Max believes that as an artist, one of the greatest ways to give back to the community is by teaching aspiring artists the craft he loves.
Max K. has over 4 years of music experience in the Memphis area.

What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons
I have composed multiple commercially successful albums of original music. Writing songs is one of the best and most fulfilling ways a musician can express themselves with the world. In my lessons, I will help the student expand on their ideas to form complete motifs and eventually songs. I’ll provide the student with a tool bag to use when composing.
What to expect in my Vocal Lessons
I have been a professional singer for over 4 years now, but have been singing my entire life. I’ve had to learn many hard lessons about singing while doing 3-4 hour gigs. Breathing technique, range, and how to captivate an audience are all areas of study that I excel in. I look forward to sharing what I’ve learned with you.
What to expect in my Guitar Lessons
I have played professionally as a bass player all over the country. As such, I know the ins and outs of bass playing from how to set your gear up right, to following cues from a bandleader, to knowing just what to play to take the band to the right direction. Bass is the heartbeat of the band.
What to expect in my Bass Guitar Lessons
I have been playing guitar since I was 10 years old, and since then have considered it to be my strongest passion. My heroes include the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Wes Montgomery, and B.B. King. I have studied guitar at Rhodes College, where I learned how to play professionally in multiple genres. I’ve spent hours meticulously dissecting the different licks that guitarists I idealize have used, and I can’t wait to share that information with you!
