Hi, my name is CJ and I am a 24 yr. old guitarist located in Seattle. I have been a student of music for about 8 years, and have had experience learning from professionals as well as teaching myself. My musical influences include Jimi Hendrix, Tom Misch, John Frusciante, Mateus Asato, and John Mayer. My teaching style can best be described as flexible and adaptive. My philosophy is that beginners, especially children, learn the quickest when they start immediately learning songs they enjoy, and throughout the song learning process, I point out important scales, chords, picking, and strumming techniques that will advance their playing abilities. In my lessons, you can expect to learn your favorite songs by your favorite artists in a personal, educational approach that will further your understanding the guitar as an instrument and as a tool to express yourself. I do not have prior experience being a professional instructor, but I have experience teaching friends with my unique approach and they have been very successful. My number one goal is to help you fall in love with the guitar like I have. This class will be especially helpful for people who want to become songwriters, as my approach incorporates using your own creativity to explore the instrument.
