About Me
Hello! My name is Zachary but I go by Iroh. I am a multi-instrumental musician originally from Southern Utah, where I graduated from Tuacahn High School for the Performing Arts in 2016. I have been studying and learning instruments for 13 years. I got into piano lessons when I was nine years old. Following this, at age thirteen I picked up violin and orchestra classes, as well as choir in middle school and was involved in that until my junior year of high school. When I was seventeen I began teaching myself guitar, and started writing my own music. Since I graduated High School I have been working on my solo Spoken Word project which I call,. ..And We Never Spoke Again. I have performed in several live shows in five different cities throughout Utah, since January of 2018, prior to moving to New Mexico. When I was twenty I also picked up bass in order to join a band. My influences as a musician include Listener, Old Gray, The Exploration, Delta Sleep, This Will Destroy You, and Temples. To this day I am still currently active in playing and learning more on all of these instruments. My teaching experience is limited. I picked up a few piano students during my senior year of high school. It's been a few years, and I am seeking to gain more experience in a teaching setting, and will only be taking beginners at this point. As a teacher, I like to take a logical approach that is designed to give students the knowledge to learn anything and everything that they want. I emphasize that the student learns at a comfortable pace for them, giving themselves as much time as they need to fully understand a musical concept, and then proceeding to challenge themselves when selecting the music they want to learn. My favorite thing about teaching is becoming one with the process of growth, and seeing it pay off. It is very important to me as a teacher to also be each student's greatest motivator especially in moments of discouragement. Learning music can be exhausting and hard to keep up with, but the best decision I've ever made for myself was not quitting when I really wanted to. The rewards for all the hard work paying off are unmatchable. In the past, I'd say I excelled at pursuing to understand and meet each students individual needs as a human being, seeking to become a musician. They greatly enjoyed the freedom to choose what they wanted to learn, and I think it helped a lot with staying motivated. Thanks so much for taking a look at my profile. It would be an honor to hear from you soon.

What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons

Beginner -

Freedom is the name of the game for me, as well as the ability to apply the knowledge that it takes to expand musical horizon. Lessons with each student will start off mostly emphasized within the musical theory aspects of things. As concepts are learned and added, students will gain the opportunities to be able to pick out their own pieces, in whatever style they please. They will be encouraged to stay motivated, and try dipping their hands into as many musical styles as possible. I will put great effort into understanding how best to teach each student in the ways that will help them most as an individual.
