Guitar Lessons

Hi, my name is Tyler and I am a guitarist from Maryland. I have been a student of music for 8 years. My musical influences include lots of metal, rock, punk, and I also enjoy some jazz. My teaching style will be hands-on and include basic music theory. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I believe one must stay consistent in order to improve. In my lessons, you can expect to learn some basic music theory, basic chords, some jazz chords, punk/rock/metal songs, and I will work at the pace of the student. I like to tell my students patience is key, as no one becomes a rockstar overnight. My favorite thing about teaching is sharing my love for music. My favorite performance I've seen was by a band called Silent Planet. I primarily teach rock/punk, but I can also teach some jazz/metal songs, riffs or ideas. My approach as a teacher is to work patiently with whomever I'm teaching. Thanks for taking a look at my profile. Hope to meet you soon!
Tyler S. has over 1 years of music experience in the Denton area.

What to expect in my Guitar Lessons
I will mostly focus on beginners for lessons, but I'm willing to help bridge the gap between beginner and intermediate players if need be! I'll assume my students are brand-new to guitar and begin by teaching them how to hold a guitar, how to hold a pick, how to tune a guitar, how to change their guitar strings, some basic open chords, some major scales to start off with, and some beginner music theory! I'll pull from a selection of songs I've learned over the years such Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes, Dammit We'll call it Dang-it for any kids taking lessons by Blink-182, Californication by The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana, and so on. I look forward to start working with these new students!
Formal Education:
I was in band in high school, took a music theory class in high school, and took all the music classes at my local community college.
Private Education:
I've been taught by Mike Elzey, Ryan Catterton, and Quinn Parsley who are all located on the Eastern Shore of MD.
Performing Experience:
Around 8 years.
