My dad brought an old (now, new then) Harmony guitar home with a small amp so he could plunk out his country music he liked. I was given orders not to touch it, but with the Beatles and the rest of the English explosion happening as well as music in the states I was drawn like a magnet to steel! Try to quell the amazement of an 11 year old boy! Well I snuck my dad's guitar and reading his Mel Bay book I discovered that I could play all the notes/songs within a very short time. Within 2 weeks I asked my dad if I could show him something and proudly displayed my "hidden" talent. My dad gave me the guitar and took me to the local music store where he signed me up for lessons. Using records and books, as well as the lessons, I soon was playing quite well. It has been a lifelong love for me and I am still currently recording and playing in bands as well as teching. The years in between I toured as a member of the revitalized "Wild Cherry Band", had an all original band called "Cozmic Cowboy Band", toured with Overland Express and Marshall Tucker bands, Worked with Ronnie Montrose and was a national clinician for Morley pedals and Afterburner Amplifiers. I have been married for 25 years and have 2 sons and a daughter. Both of my sons play guitar as well. Educating new players on how to use the "tool"known as the guitar, so they can then create their own musical "building" has been (I did quite a bit of teaching during college days) and continues to be a great source of joy for me.
