About Me
Clint is a NKY native who began playing guitar at the age of just eight years old. Over the years, he has developed his skills further by studying with notable NKY music instructor Rick "Lightning" Hopkins. Clint studied Jazz and Music Production. He also gained performing experience in the NKY area playing at a variety of venues, bars, and coffee houses. Clint has been seen on stage with acts such as Seconds Out, and Scarangella. Clint has also performed solo acoustic and Jazz acts. Though Clint can teach many genres of music, his musical personal favorites are Blues, Jazz, Fusion, and Progressive Metal. Clint loves music because it's been his passion since he could strum his first chord and loves teaching music because to him helping others find their voice on their instrument is as he says, "A vital part of their self-expression as individuals." Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned professional, Clint can help you expand and enhance your playing. Clint is excited to learn how he can help you reach your musical goals. What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons

Beginner - Intermediate

In these lessons I will provide a comprehensive walk through of practical Song Writing methods and techniques. Starting from the ground up we will discuss your knowledge of music theory and songwriting with your instrument. I will provide short lecture coupled with examples on the guitar, in your or my DAW, and thru email pdf which I will provide as reference for your own personal songwriting. Expect to learn about such topics as: chord progressions, triads, chord scales, submediant chords, subdominant chords, open chords, extended chords, modulation techniques, intervals, the Nashville Number System, themes, melody, harmony, motifs, and how to apply all that and more to write great songs. You'll be writing your own tunes in no time!

What to expect in my Record Engineer Produce

Beginner - Intermediate

In these lessons we will expand your knowledge of your own DAW, recording, and music theory. If you do not have a DAW NOTE: you will need a computer, I will show you where you can find several FREE TRIAL versions to test out for yourself, allowing you to later choose which one suits you the most. In these lessons I will teach you about: production techniques, how to apply music theory, songwriting techniques, how to use audio and MIDI effects, building buses and racks, making effects chains, MIDI clips, splicing, sampling, mixing, beat making, creating your own sounds, VST's, automation, and much more. This will all be leading up to where you will make three of your own full tracks, from scratch, from start to finish. Where I will walk you through my entire process for writing a Low Fidelity Hip Hop track, a Chill Step track, and an Acoustic track with open air recordings which you will then mix and export it out to the world, if you so choose!!

What to expect in my Guitar Lessons

Beginner - Intermediate

In these lessons we will discuss from the beginning your experience as a guitar player, your knowledge of music theory, your techniques, what styles you can play, and what styles you'd like to be able to play. From there we will begin by exploring the major scale and its many relationships, alterations, and applications and how to practice effectively. We will discuss intervals, scales, chord types, chord scales, triads, arpeggios, the circle of fifths, time signatures, counting odd meter, note groupings, the modes, the cage system, the three note per string system, extended chords, modes, fret board visualization, how to write riffs, how to solo, how to use embellishments, making your own licks, sweep picking, crossing picking, hybrid picking, pick slanting, finger picking, phrasing, improvisation, and much, much more. You'll be on your way to fret board freedom in no time!

Formal Education:

My formal education with Full Sail University lasted only one year as the Online Courses became very cumbersome, and new opportunity presented itself elsewhere in form of teaching and preforming. However I did garner valuable knowledge of Music Production while attending. The topics in which I studied while enrolled at Full Sail were: Music Production, Song Writing, Sampling, and Recording.

Private Education:

My private education comes from my informal guitar instruction with Rick Hopkins at Willis Music. It's was there where I learned Guitar and Music Theory. The knowledge I gained from attending these instruction sessions is vast. Some of the topics covered were as follows: Scales (Major, Minor, Pentatonic, Harmonic, Melodic, Augmented, Diminished), Chords & Voicings (open, caged, extended, poly), Techniques (finger picking, cross picking, sweep picking, alternate picking, economy picking, hybrid picking, slide, tapping, bending, strumming), Theory (circle of fifths, intervals, chord families, Nashville number system, note names, fret board visualization, improvisation methods, sight reading, modes, modulations). This is just a small list of all I was taught and retained from these sessions.

Performing Experience:

I have preformed around the NKY and Greater Cincinnati area. Some of the Venues I've preformed in have been: The Southgate House, The Southgate House Revival, The Highlander, Molly Malones, Fort Thomas Coffee House, Left Bank Coffee House, Bottleneck's Bar & Grill, & The Pub. I've preformed with the local hard rock/alt metal outfit Seconds Out, as well as with the prog metal band Scarangella. I have primarily, however, preformed solo gigs, playing a variety of styles ranging from pop, folk, rock, hard rock, blues, and jazz.

Experience Teaching:

I have taught a wide array of people by way of self promotion and freelance contracting. From friends, family, friends kids, and anyone who has ever responded to the many pull tab flyers I put up around town. I have taught people ranging from the age of 10 up to 50 years in age, and I have helped many grow their musicality to levels where they no longer require much instruction to learn, write, and play songs. It has always been my goal to build a sense of independence and freedom in all of my students, former or prospective, and learning to find your voice on your instrument will provide just that sense.

    Billy Burke-Guitar Lessons w/ Clint

Clint provided me with exactly what I was looking for. He taught me how to play some of my favorite songs from Metallica and Megadeth like "Nothing Else Matters" and "Rust in Peace!" I feel more confident in my riff writing and playing in general, but most of all I can happily say I understand what I'm talking about when it comes to theory more now than ever before!! I'm very thankful I came across his lesson flyer because I don't know where I'd be at with my playing otherwise. Thanks a bunch Clint!
