Hi, my name is Andrew and music has been a big part of my life since I was very young. I have a wide variety of music genres I enjoy and find interesting and am pretty open to different styles. I have over 15 years of experience in learning and playing musical instruments and fine-tuning my vocals. I play a variety of instruments including: Acoustic Guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, piano, mandolin, and ukulele. I have been playing the guitar, the instrument I'm most proficient in, since 2004. I started out on the electric guitar learning a variety of Rock styles, and then progressed with the acoustic guitar in other styles. My early influences were: Journey, Pink Floyd, Metallica, Kansas, Styx, E.L.O., Reliant K, and a lot of other Classic Rock and Alternative bands. Most of my later and current influences are Christian bands like Newsboys, Chris Tomlin, Hillsong, Leeland, Crowder, Keith Green, MercyMe, Rend Collective, Switchfoot, and many others. I'm not opposed to teaching secular music as long as it's appropriate. I've trained and developed my vocals over many years and have made great progress in my own methods. Most of my training has been self-taught, but I have had some formal training in different courses. I have written and composed some of my own songs and understand the structure of songs. I have played on and led several different worship teams over the years at churches I've attended and participated in. I taught myself to play guitar and sing together, so I can assist you with learning that as well. I can also advise you in accessory and instrument choices. Although my teaching methods are not typical and entirely formal, I have seen quicker progress in students who have learned my way. I prefer to personalize and tailor my lessons to meet the student's preferred genres of music and interests of styles. I am flexible in my teaching and can teach more formally if preferred. I am pretty laid back and easy going. I want my students to have fun and enjoy themselves. I want you to have choice in your songs, because you are far more likely to want to continue to learn and progress than give up if you're enjoying yourself. If you have the patience and determination to learn and improve, then you will. So thank you for considering me, and I look forward to getting to know you and seeing you grow in your skills as a Musician. Let's have some fun!
Andrew L. has over 15 years of music experience in the Fort Worth area.
Andrew L. is proficient in and teaches Guitar Lessons, Bass Guitar Lessons, Vocal Lessons, Song Writing Lessons .Degree and Field of Study:
What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons
Students will learn the basic structure of a song, learn all the parts that make up the composition of songs, and then how to build their own songs.
What to expect in my Bass Guitar Lessons
Although Bass is not my main instrument, it will be no problem to teach. If you can play guitar, you can play Bass. Bass is one of the easiest instruments to play in my opinion.
What to expect in my Vocal Lessons
If you have a fear of singing in front of people, I can help you get over that. If you can hit 'some' notes, or you can barely hit any notes if at all, I can work with you. If you can hit notes, but are struggling projecting getting power behind your voice, or need help building your vocal muscles to reach notes currently outside your vocal range, that I can help you improve.
What to expect in my Guitar Lessons
Whether you have no experience or training, or you have the basics down and need to improve on technique, I can help. I am patient with my students and will repeat whatever is needed until you get it. Students get to influence the choices of music and songs chosen to practice. If you don't know what to pick, I am happy to make suggestions and I will even print off music for you. I can offer materials such as guitar tablature and chord sheet music, as well as chord charts, fret charts and other helpful tools to help. Learn at your own pace and get comfortable with what you're learning.
