What to expect in my Guitar Lessons
David ensures to facilitate the learning process by understanding how the student learns, and in that, provide opportunities for learning through the use of those identified learning preferences. How does this look from lesson to lesson? Generally, depending on the style is what will dictate the flow of a lesson. For example, a classical beginner pianist will more than likely be following a traditional style of lesson warm-up, piece of music, sight reading but with a more engaging twist on my end. Whereas a pop or christian pianist will focus more on chords, chord progressions, patterns, grooves, how to play in a band, how to play solo, how to make a chord sound 'pretty', ect. Most often than not, the lessons revolve around a warm-up in connection to the focus exploring phase, that leads to the core of the lesson topic/focus, which then results in practice suggestions and implications going forward for next week. In other cases typically with advanced students the lesson becomes more student driven with Q&A, however, with the centric focus in mind. In it all, David's approach is holistic, and believes that the best way for musical growth is exposure of music in all aspects: visual sheet music, aural listening to recordings, verbal talking it out, physical playing the instrument, and logical analyzing music/music theory. "Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid."-Albert Einstein
