About Me

Paul has been singing and performing since he was only six years old. He decided to pursue music as a career and studied voice in college where he received his Bachelors of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Lee University, his Masters of Music degree in the same field from Appalachian State, and he is currently working on his dissertation to complete his Doctorate in Music at the University of Oklahoma. Paul has received over a decade of professional vocal training, the last four years being with Metrapolitan Opera Baritone Kim Josephson, and he has also taught voice privately. Paul has had the opportunity to perform in such venues as the St. Peter’s Basilica, St. Marks Basilica, and The Whitehouse, and his performance history includes lead roles in works such as L’elisir d’amore, Lucia di Lammermoor, Don Pasquale, and Les Misérables. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned professional, Paul has professional techniques to help you expand and enhance your singing ability. He is excited to learn how he can help you reach your musical goals. Signup now to schedule a meeting! Submit

What to expect in my Vocal Lessons

Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced

I have been trained in what is known as bel canto style. Bel canto simply means “beautiful singing” and is an Italian technique that has been developed for centuries. Many people shy away from this concept because they are not interested in singing classical music, but the primary techniques of bel canto style are vital to any genre of music, and its basic techniques are applicable to any genre. These techniques are full diaphragmatic breath support, resonance gained through proper breathing, and avoiding muscle tension while singing. These key elements are far to often missed by today’s professionals, and that is why many of them often have to cut their tours short because they wear out their voices. Differences in genre and style come through other factors such as diction and timbre. We can specify these details depending on your desires, but the three elements stated above are vital to any genre.
