Kelsie J.
Vocal Lessons
Home
2 Years
Hi, my name is Kelsie and I am a vocal instructor from Las Vegas. I have been a student of music for four years. My musical influences include Cecilia Bartoli, Renée Fleming, Diana Damrau, Kelly Clarkson, Adele, JoJo, Lizzo and I also enjoy other musical genres such as Broadway. My teaching style can best be described as creative, and unique. I like to think outside of the box, and working with my students to find techniques that are best suited for their individual needs. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I have an intense passion for music and the belief that music is powerful, emotional, and beneficial to development and growth. In my lessons, you can expect to learn how to develop your skills as a vocalist, including how to properly use your body, how to read and sight-read music, ear training, and basic music theory, to get started. I like to tell my students anything is possible, with hard work and the right attitude. My favorite thing about teaching is listening to my students create music. My favorite performance was singing in the Sydney Opera House in Australia with the BC Chamber Singers for a choral festival in July, 2018. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life, but not my first international choral festival, I have also traveled to Italy and Austria. My students love that I get creative with my lesson plans. I primarily teach voice, but I can also teach piano. My approach as a teacher is to take time to understand each of my student’s individual goals, strengths, weaknesses, and I use them to strategize unique lesson plans. Thanks for taking a look at my profile. Hope to meet you soon!

What to expect in my Vocal Lessons
Students can expect to learn proper classical techniques, regardless of primary genre, because it is the healthiest form of singing. They can expect to learn music theory, sight-singing, ear-training, and basic piano skills. Students can also expect to learn how to use their whole body while singing. This will include breathing techniques, posture, tongue placement, where to clench your muscles, and where to relax them. Singing will include vocal exercises and warm-ups, increasing range, learning various vocal techniques, diction how to pronounce, rhythm, and picking specific songs to work on. Students can also expect to learn how to perform, which could include facial expression, emotion, connecting with the audience, connecting with the song, stage presence, and confidence.
