Keyboard and Piano Lessons, Vocal Lessons

Hi, my name is Destinee and I am a solo musician from Natchitoches, Louisiana. I have been a student of music for four years, but music has been a part of my life since i was younger. My musical influences range from classical, choral, pop, r&b, and soul. I am a very bright, outgoing, motivated individual, and a recent graduate of Northwestern State University of May 2018. I have no recent teaching experience but I can describe my teaching style as open, and direct. I like to demonstrate each exercise and lead students through each task, adjusting to what one may need based on their skill level. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I believe any child is capable for learning with the right push and care. In my lessons, you can expect to learn about posture, breathing, pitch, articulation, vocal anatomy, ear training, sight reading, scales, chords, and many other skills that can increase vocal or keyboard ability. I like to tell my students, believe in yourself and never give up! My favorite thing about teaching is watching the students improve and extend from one level to the next! Helping students learn and improve their ability is most satisfying for me. My favorite performance was with the Northwestern State University Chamber Choir when we performed and recorded "For A Breath Of Ecstasy", a six part movement that was conducted for the choir by Michael Trotta. My students would love that I am a funny, youthful, easy going teacher. I primarily teach voice, but I can also teach beginning piano. My approach as a teacher is to figure out the needs and abilities of each student and to build from there. Thanks for taking a look at my profile. Hope to meet you soon!
