I began piano lessons at the age of 4. At 10, I started classical training at The Wausau Conservatory of Music. When I was 13, I picked up a bass guitar and taught myself how to play. At 14, I grabbed an electric and never put it down. Through the years, I have played, taught and performed on all three of these instruments incorperating what I've learned into all aspects of my playing. I am a classical pianist, and dabble a bit with ragtime and honky tonk. I also play rock keys and synth. As a bass guitarist, I play walks, slap, fingers and pick, and am fairly profficient in major and minor runs and fills. On guitar, I range from blues, country, and folk/bleugrass to rock and metal. And lets not leave out classical fingerstyle. For rock and metal students, I use the scales and modes, throwing in sweep picking, tapping, and occasional whammy bar use. All students are taught to read tab and notaion, charts and patterns, and we focus on ear training, chord building and harmonys. No one gets out without at least a little theory. I also show them how interconnected instruments are, and how they can use and apply knowledge to any instrument.

The only formal education I have I learned at W.C.M. I also took every available music related and theory class I could in High School. Most of what I know has been learned from self study or working with other musicians.

Performing Experience:
I began performing piano recitals at 6. At 15, I played my 1st gig as a guitarist. Since then, I've played tons of shows ranging from Grand Theaters to Biker Rallys to hole in the wall bars and clubs. My show experiece ranges from professional halls to metal clubs. In 2001, I bought a 69 Greyhound bus and my band and I traveled for 3 years making a living playing WI, MI, MN, and Il. We would go out 4 days a shot, come home to rehearse {and teach}, and head out again. We were pushing an independant album at the time, but after 3 years, decided to focus locally and persue other incomes. We couldn't keep up on repairs on that old bus.
Experience Teaching:
At 18, I began teaching piano, guitar and bass at a local music store. In 2004, I started working with private schools in the area and churches to provide lessons during the day. I've also worked with home schooled children who used my classes as school credit. I sub-contracted at Marc's Guitar untill September of 2010. The business closed, and I moved my lessons to my private residence where I teach presently.
