Tychiko C.

Tychiko is a classically trained vocalist from the islands of the Bahamas has been praised for his brilliant versatility, charming audiences with his warm lyrical tone. Ty received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Vocal Performance from Saint John's University in Collegeville, Minnesota. He then went on to pursue a Masters of Music degree the University of New Mexico, where he was the Graduate Teaching Assistant. In the Fall of 2019, Tychiko will pursue a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree at Arizona State University where he will study with Mr. Gordon Hawkins. In 2018, Ty placed as one of the top 10 finalists in the Phoenix Opera Vocal Competition. As an Art Song enthusiast, in 2018, Ty took first place in the Vocal Artistry Art Song Competition in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In 2017, he made his solo debut with the New Mexico Philharmonic Orchestra as the Baritone soloist for Handel's Messiah. In 2013, Ty was nationally recognized as one of the Bahamas' leading young people under 40 years old for his contributions to music and the arts during the country's 40th anniversary of Independence. Ty is a former voice teacher and language diction teacher at the New Mexico School for the Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
