Hi! My name is Joshua, multi-instrumentalist singer songwriter with over a decade of experience writing and performing music for guitar and voice. Since I was six years old, I've been involved in music, singing in church choirs, playing drums on pots and pans. My mother, sister and grandmother are all singers, music is truly in my blood! When I was fifteen I began writing and self-recording my first songs. In the 13 years since, I've played in five different bands, self-released six records and played gigs all over the United States, from New York City to Los Angeles. As a pop singer songwriter, I understand how to build a song from the ground up: rhythm, harmony and melody. Every element of a song has a role to play, and understanding that role is really the key to being a great player. Over the years, I've played it all: rock, punk, funk, soul, blues and jazz, even electronic! I can help you find the sound you're looking for in your own music. To me, music is all about the feeling and expression, I want to show you the tools you need to bring your artistic vision to life, not just learning how to play other people's music. You can expect to learn how to use music theory to actualize the exact feeling you're looking for in your music, and how to develop the musical discipline to execute a killer performance. I don't just want to teach you the fundamentals of music, I want to help you become a great artist, to play with emotion, honesty and style! I can help you get on your feet if you're just starting out. What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate
Songwriting is poetry set to music. To be a good songwriter is about finding your unique written and spoken voice. I will spend a lot of time working with you on lyrics. What do you want to do with your music? Do you want to tell a story? Do you want to convey an emotion? Do you want to talk about society and the things you see? Do you want to talk about ideas? Being a musician is much like being a magician: build your bag of tricks up and you can do anything. I will help you build healthy songwriting habits so that you consistently finish material. I will help you learn to demo your material. I will teach you what i know about creating catchy "hooks" and writing effective, strong verses.

Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced
There are a million and one guitar players out there, it's one of the most common instruments that people play. I want to help teach you how to develop a real unique voice, not just emulate the playing of other people, develop a personal relationship with the instrument and really learn to "speak" through your playing.
What to expect in my Vocal Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate
Imagine, you hear your best friend speaking in the other room and immediately realize it's your best friend? Why? Because there is something unique to their voice. Everyone has a unique voice. When you hear major pop artists like Beyonce or Justin Timberlake sing, why is it that you immediately know it's them? Because they've put in the work to find their 100% unique voice, a voice that can be imitated but never replicated. One of my major goals as an instructor is to help you find that thing that makes your voice yours and nobody else's. I will also teach you how to get more POWER and CLARITY out of your vocals, how to adjust your technique to fit performance settings vs. studio environments, and certain secrets I've learned over the years to make your performances more emotive without putting unnecessary strain on your body.
