Katewas born in Tainan, Taiwan. She started playing the cello at the age of 9, and has been playing and performing since then. She moved to the United States in the Fall of 2018, and studied in the Young Artist Program at the Cleveland Institute of Music along with playing in the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra (COYO). She is now a Martha Bell Sanders Excellence scholarship and CIM Grant recipient at the Cleveland Institute of Music, studying with renowned cellist Sharon Robinson. Kate has won numerous competitions including the 27th Young Musician International Music Competition “Citta de Barletta"(2017), 2nd prize at the WDAV Chamber music competition (April, 2019) and participated in the 2019 Fishoff Chamber Music Competition (May 10-11). In addition, her piano trio, Arcus Trio, recently won the Grand prize at the Coltman Competition and was invited to perform at Lincoln center, NY in May, 2020. Kate is a full scholarship recipient of the 2018 50th New York String orchestra Seminar, the 2019 Taconic Music Festival, and the 2020 Sarasota Music Festival; and a scholarship recipient of the 2018 Encore Chamber Music Festival, and 2020. In addition, Kate has performed in numerous masterclasses led by world-renowned musicians. They include Hans Jorgen Jansen, Blaise Dejardin, Richard Weiss, Deborah Pae, Si-Yan Darren Li, Amit Even Tov,, Reiner Ginzel, Francis Gouton, Moky Gibson-Lane, Ru-Pei Yeh, Ching-Tzi Ko, Bi-Ching Jian; and has been coached by Sylvia Rosenberg, Todd Phillips, Ivan Chan, Daniel Philips, Carolyn Warner, Benny Kim, the Cavani Quartet, Miro Quartet, Formosa Quartet, and members of the New York Philharmonic and The Cleveland Orchestra. Aside from performing, she also enjoys teaching music lessons, ballet, reading, and chess.

What to expect in my Orchestral Lessons
Technique, musicality, artistry, are the key elements of becoming a true musician. I was taught to be the best advocate of that, and will pass on that knowledge to you and bring out your full potential. Be prepared for your lessons!
What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons
I will pay a lot of attention to your technique and posture, as those are the fundamentals of playing the piano. They are very important for preventing injury. Solid technique also facilitâtes musical expression and beauty (without which it would not be possible). I will also teach you musical phrasing, dynamics, and all the details concerning the piece you are working on. Be prepared for every lesson!
